Boiling Point:

The boiling point determination of Test item Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid (CAS No. 2950-43-8 ) was done as per the test guideline OECD 103. The method followed was according to Siwoloboff. The mean boiling point was determine to be 201.3°C at 964.5 hPa.

Density:

The density of Test item Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid (CAS No.2950-43-8 ) was determined following OECD guideline 109 and according to the method recommended in the International Pharmacopoeia, fourth Edition, 2014. The mean pour density and tapped density of the test item was determine to be 0.6275 g/cm³ and 0.8348 g/cm³at 24°C and 963.6 hPa.

Particle size distribution:

The particle size distribution of test item Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid (CAS No. 2950-43-8 ) was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determine to be in the range of 150 micron to 25 micron.

Vapour pressure:

The estimated vapour pressure of Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid at 25 deg C was 1.52E-14 Pa.

Partition coefficient

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, testing for this end point is technically not feasible and does not need to be conducted since the test chemical Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid is inorganic.

Water solubility:

The water solubilitydetermination of test item Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid;CAS No.2950-43-8 was doneby spectrophotometric method. The water solubility was determine to be 134500 mg/L at 25°C.

Surface tension:

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the study need only be conducted if surface activity is a desired property of the chemical. Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid (CAS no. 2950-43-8) is used as a intermediate in manufacturing pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. For this use, surface activity is not an important property. Hence this study was considered for waiver.

Flash point:

The flash point determination of Test item Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid (CAS No. 2950-43-8 )was done. The method is closed cup method using Pensky-Martens Flash Point Apparatus. The meanflash point of the test item was determine to be 143.6°C at 965.2 hPa.

Auto flammability:

Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid was considered non-flammable.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.

Oxidizing properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid.

pH :

The pH determination of test item Hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid (CAS No 2950-43-8) was done following OECD guideline 122. pH of 1% w/v solution was measured with the help of pH meter and it was observed to be 1.81 at 25 °C.
