Description of key information

The aquatic toxicity of laccase has been testet in species representing three trophic levels, i.e. algae, crustacaens and fish. All tests performed were short-term toxicity tests conducted according to OECD guidelines, and in compliance with GLP.

A limit test was performed for all three trophic levels and no effects were observed in fish and Daphnia, and a 23 % inhibition was found in the algae growth inhibition assay. Hence, no LC50/EC50 values could be determined.

The NOEC values were following:

Short-term toxicity to fish: 2.62 mg aep/L

Short-term toxicity to Daphnia magna: 2.68 mg aep/L

Toxicity to aquatic algae: <2.68 mg aep/L
