Description of key information

The solid (5 -10% water) form of the reaction mass of 4 -sulphophthalic acid and 3-sulphophthalic acid has an US-EPA’s computer program EPIWIN v4.11 estimated melting and boiling points of 205.85°C and 485.55°C, respectively; an estimated water solubility of 1000 g/L, a vapor pressure of 8.34E-10Pa, an octanol water partition (Log Kow) of -2.09, and a calculated dissociation constant (pKa) ranging from -2.85 to 5.34.

The concentrate (20% water) of the reaction mass of 4-sulphophthalic acid and 3 -sulphophthalic acid is an opaque, brown, and viscous liquid, with a measured density of 1.51 g/cm3, a kinematic viscosity (at 25˚C) of 1643 mm²/s (static).

The 50% solution of the reaction mass has an estimated pH of 1.9, with no flash point observed.
