Reference
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From 09 November 2015 To 28 April 2016
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
STABILITY AND STORAGE CONDITIONS OF TEST MATERIAL
- Storage condition of test material: Controlled room temperature (15-25°C, below 70 RH%)

TREATMENT OF TEST MATERIAL PRIOR TO TESTING
- The test item previously frozen at -80°C and crushed into powder formed into an unbroken strip.
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

In the preliminary test the test item became less viscous and the colour changed to brown. But the test item didn't ignited.

Based on these results, no main test was performed. It was concluded that the test item is not classified as flammable solid.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The test item didn't ignite during the test. Therefore, the substance is classified as flammable solid based on GHS criteria
Executive summary:

The flammability of the test item was determined according to recognised guideline (EU A.10) and under GLP.

No deviation from the guideline was observed during the test.

In a preliminary test, the flame from a gas burner was applied to one end of a test item strip until the test item ignited. The test was performed two times.

The test item didn't ignited. Therefore, the substance is considered not to be highly flammable in the conditions of this test and is not classified as flammable solid based on GHS criteria.

Description of key information

The flammability of the test item was determined according to recognized guideline (EU Method A.10 ) and under GLP. No deviation from the guideline was observed during the test.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

In the flammability study, the test item didn't ignited. Therefore the test item is not considered to be a flammable solid.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on a flammability study, the test item is not classified as a flammable solid based on GHS criteria.

Based on handling and manufacturing information, the test item is not considered to be flammable in contact with water or pyrophoric. Therefore, the test item is not classified regarding these hazards.
