Additional information

Short-term toxicity to fish

Based on the nominal concentrations of the test item the 96-h LC50 for Danio rerio was estimated to be between 22 and 50 mg/L. The LC0 after 96 h was 10 mg/L.

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

Based on the nominal concentrations of the test item the 48-h EC50 for Daphnia magna was estimated to be 19.1 mg/L (95 % confidence limits: 15.2 – 24.5 mg/L). The NOEC after 48 h was 6.25 mg/L. The LOEC after 48 h was 12.5 mg/L.

Toxicity to aquatic algae

In this study 2,2’-(Octylimino)bisethanol was found to inhibit the growth of the freshwater green alga Desmodesmus subspicatus after 72 hours. The NOEC-values for inhibition of growth rate and inhibition of yield after 72 hours were 0.253 and 0.0800 mg/L, respectively . The LOEC-values for inhibition of growth rate and inhibition of yield after 72 hours were 0.800 and 0.253 mg/L. The EC50-values for inhibition of growth rate (ErC50) and yield (EyC50) with 95 % confidence intervals after 72 hours were 1.35 (1.30 – 1.41 and 0.397 (0.363 – 0.433) mg/L, respectively. All effect levels are given based on nominal concentrations of 2,2’-(Octylimino)bisethanol.

Toxicity to microorganisms

The test items is not toxic to the bacteria of an activated sludge a municipal wastewater treatment plant at levels <229 [mg / L]
