Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

SnS and SnS2 as read-across substances are not highly flammable according to the definition in the EEC-directive 92/69/EEC, method A.1 0. The same is assumed for ditin trisulfide. Please refer to the read-across justification in section 13.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Results for tin sulfide:

In a preliminary test, during the application of flame (2 minutes) to one end of the pile no ignition and therefore no spreading of fire was observed. Also after removing the flame after 2 minutes no propagation of combustion was ascertained. Because of the test results execution of the main test was not necessary and the test item was assessed to be not highly flammable.

Results for tin disulfide:

The combustion speed was 1520 s for 200 mm. Therefore, the test was stopped after the pre-test and tin disulfide is considered to be not highly flammable.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results of the flammability test (not flammable) on read-across substances, ditin trisulfide is not classified according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP).
