Description of key information

For Daphnia magna, the 48 hour NOEC (mobility) from the key study was 10 mg/L and the 48-hour EC50 (mobility) was 58 mg/L.

A total of four acute toxicity test with D. magna were evaluated. Of these four studies, it was apparent that the pH levels were too high in three of the studies (> 9.0) such that the resultant observed toxicity could not be solely attributed to the inherent toxicity of the test substance. Thus, these three studies were deemed not reliable. The remaining study (Balk 1989) reported pH values in the acceptable range and was deemed reliable with restrictions. From this study, the 48 hour NOEC (mobility) for D. magna was 10 mg/L and the 48 hour EC50 (mobility) was 58 mg/L. These toxicity values were based on nominal concentrations, since analytical confirmation of the test substance was not performed.
