Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No toxic effects to fish up to the limit of water solubility (< 0.05 mg/L).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Short-term toxicity of2,2-bis[[(1-oxoisooctadecyl)oxy]methyl]-1,3-propanediyl bis(isooctadecanoate) (CAS 62125-22-8)to freshwater fish was investigated according to OECD 203 under semi-static conditions using Danio rerio as test organism (van Egmond, 1997). Nominal concentrations of 10, 18, 32, 56 and 100 mg/L were applied. A stock solution was prepared daily and diluted appropriately. No mortalities occurred after the test duration of 96 hours resulting in an LC50 of > 100 mg/L. Therefore it can be concluded that2,2-bis[[(1-oxoisooctadecyl)oxy]methyl]-1,3-propanediyl bis(isooctadecanoate)will not exhibit short-term effects to fish up to the limit of water solubility (< 0.05 mg/L). As it can be seen in the data matrix of the category justification in section 13 and the overall summary, all reliable data in the category support the hazard assessment of each category member by showing a consistent pattern of resultswithin the polyol esters category, i.e. no toxic effects to fish or other aquatic organisms up the limit of water solubility.
