1-octanol soluble fraction calculated by difference with the initial weight of sample and the log ratio between the soluble fraction and the insoluble fraction.
The preliminary test on the substance revealed a considerable quantity which is insoluble in both water and n-octanol. The analytical charcterisation measured a variable % of piperazine, melamine and phopshoric acid derivatives. Therefore, the partitioning tests could only measure low molecular weight components, such as piperazine, melamine and phosphoric acid, which are the constituents that are water soluble. Nothing was found in the octanol phase.
