Additional information

Carbon monoxide is a gas with limited solubility in water (23- 30 mg/L). It is therefore unlikely to partition to the aquatic environment and so exposure to aquatic organisms will be minimal. As the substance is a gas, aquatic toxicity studies are technically not feasible. In the place of available measured data, estimated effects were predicted using the QSAR, ECOSAR v1.11. The predicted LC50 for fish is 672.6 mg/L, for daphnia an LC50 of 307.5 mg/L and an EC50 of 124.4 mg/L for algae. Based on these predicted effect concentrations, the toxicity to aquatic organisms is very limited.
