First-aid measures

• Description of first aid measures

General advice:  Take off all contaminated clothing immediately.

If inhaled:  Remove to fresh air. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

In case of skin contact:  Wash off with plenty of water. If skin irritation persists, consult a physician.

In case of eye contact:  Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids. Consult an ophtalmologist.

If swallowed:  Immediately give large quantities of water to drink. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

• Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms: Symptoms of overexposure may be headache, dizziness, tiredness, nausea and vomiting.

• Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treatment: Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

• Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: Carbon dioxide (CO2), Alcohol-resistant foam, Dry powder

• Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Specific hazards during fire fighting:

Combustible material.

Vapours are heavier than air and may spread along floors.

Forms explosive mixtures with air at ambient temperatures.

Development of hazardous combustion gases or vapours possible in the event of fire.

• Precautions for fire-fighters

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:

While present in the danger zone.

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Further information:

Cool closed containers exposed to fire with water spray.

Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately.

This must not be discharged into drains.

Pay attention to flashback.

Accidental release measures

• Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Personal precautions:

Do not breathe vapours or spray mist.

Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas.

Avoid formation of aerosol.

Remove all sources of ignition.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Use personal protective equipment.

• Environmental precautions

Risk of explosion

Prevent material from reaching sewage system, holes and cellars

• Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up

Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder).

Dispose of recovered material according to the regulations.

Ensure adequate ventilation

Cleaning agent: water

Reference to other sections:

Refer to protective measures listed in sections “Handling and storage” and “Exposure controls / personal protection”.

Handling and storage

• Precautions for safe handling

Advice on safe handling:

Do not breathe vapours or spray mist.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Use only explosion-proof equipment.

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.

Vapours are heavier than air and may spread along floors.

• Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Requirements for storage areas and containers:

Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.

Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

Further information on storage conditions:

Impermeable and fireproof floor with support tub.

Advice on common storage:

Store away from oxidizing agents.
