Additional information

One study is available on the short-term toxicity of Sorbitan stearate (CAS No. 1338-41-6) to aquatic invertebrates.

The key study conducted with Sorbitan stearate (CAS No. 1338-41-6) was performed according to the Circular on Test Methods of New Chemical Substances (Japan), (Ministry of the Environment, Japan, 2006). The test organism Daphnia magna was exposed to the test substance in a static system for 48 hours, at nominal test concentrations of 100, 180, 320, 560 and 1000 mg/L. No immobilisation was observed at any of the test concentrations, and the TWA based measured EC50 was reported to be > 27.8 mg/L (nom. 1000 mg/L).
