Biotic degradation

Hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) is expected to be hydrolyzed much more quickly than it would undergo biodegradation in water, therefore the resulting amines should be also subject to biodegradation.
A test on ready biodegradation with hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) and the resulting hydrolysis products showed 42 % biodegradation after 28 days. The way of introducing the test substance was by direct weight
.According to the available biodegradation results hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) has to be classified as “not readily biodegradable”.
