Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2009-12-14 TO 2010-06-07
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.9 (Flash-Point)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
closed cup
Flash point apparatus:
Pensky-Martens apparatus
Dynamic viscosity of test material:
4960 mPa.s at 20°C
Flash point:
142.5 °C
Atm. press.:
1 013 hPa
Flash point:
145.5 °C
Atm. press.:
1 013 hPa
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Remarks:
GHS and EU-CLP criteria not met
Conclusions:
Under the conditions of this study, a flash point of 142.5/145.5°C was determined.
Executive summary:

The flash point of the substance was studied according to EU test method A.9 with the Pensky-Martens method (closed cup). Two value of flash point were determined: 142.5°C and 145.5°C at 1013 hPa. The measured flash point does not relate the flammability properties of the registered substance but rather flammable properties of butanone oxime (CAS 96-29-7) which is released by thermal decomposition (starting at ca. 120°C) of the registered substance.

Description of key information

The registered substance which exhibits a flashpoint of 144°C is not considered as flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
