Description of key information

Flammable solid
The substance has no pyrophoric properties and does not liberate flammable gases on contact with water.
The substance is not a self-reactive substance or mixture.
The substance is a self-heating substance or mixture.
The substance is not an organic peroxide.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
flammable

Additional information

Flammable solid

Based on chemical structure pyrophoric properties and flammability in contact with water are not to be expected.

The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as self-reactive as the self-accelerating decomposition temperature (SADT) is greater than 75 °C for a 50 kg package.

According to GHS the substance is classified as self-heating substance category 2 if the substance is to be packed in packages with a volume of more than 3m3.

The substance or mixture does not to be classified as an organic peroxide as by definition based on their chemical structure the substance is no organic peroxide.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the classification and labeling criteria of GHS and 67/548/EEC a solid with a burning time < 45 seconds or a burning rate > 2.2 mm/s shall be classified as flammable solid. As wetted zone does not stop propagation the test substance is classified as a flammable solid of Category 1 according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and as highly flammable F, R11 according 67/548/EEC.
