Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Harmonised classification regarding physico-chemical hazards

For n-butylamine, a harmonised classification is available in Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP) Annex VI. The substance is classified as flammable liquid Cat. 2, H225.

Self-classification according to REGULATION (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP)

A full set of physico-chemical information is available with the essential parameters determined according to established testing guidelines. Classification issues are discussed in the relevant endpoint summaries in more detail. Here, only a brief summary is given:

Because of a flash point <23°C (-7.5 °C, see section 4.11) and an initial boiling point above 35°C (77 °C, see section 4.3), according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP Regulation) n-butylamine has to be classified as flammable liquid Cat. 2, H225

With regard to classification for self-reactiveness, according to CLP, Annex I, 2.8.4.2. "The classification procedures for self-reactive substances and mixtures need not be applied if:

(a) There are no chemical groups present in the molecule associated with explosive or self reactive properties. Examples of such groups are given in Tables A6.1 and A6.2 in Appendix 6 of the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria (2).

This applies for the submission substance.

No other classification requirements do exist with regard to physical hazards.
