Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic algae. No toxic effects occur at the range of the substances solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Since no data of acute toxicity on aquatic algae for the described pigment are available, read-across to similar pigments (EC 600-735-2 and CAS 30125-47-4) is used to cover this endpoint. The toxicity on aquatic algae was investigated in two GLP guideline studies according to OECD 201 [BASF SE 2014; Department of Product Safety BASF SE 2012]. The studies were conducted with the green algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, respectively, Desmodesmus subspicatus as test species. Based on the low water solubility of both test items saturated solution were prepared. For CAS 30125-47-4 a limit test was conducted using a loading rate of 100 mg/L. For EC 600-735-2 a full concentration range was tested preparing separate saturated solutions according to OECD Guidance Document 23. After 72 hours of exposure no toxic effects on algae up to the highest test concentration were observed in both studies.
