Additional information

Tripropylene glycol n-butyl ether (TPnB) meets the criteria for ready biodegradation, passing the 10 day window in an OECD 301F test (key study). Degradation based on oxygen consumption reached 72% after 10 days. The formation of carbon dioxide reached 56% indication substantial mineralization of TPnB. Extensive biodegradation of TPnB was also observed in an OECD 302B test (Zahn-Wellens test for inherent biodegradability), showing 86, 92, and 96% biodegradation after 14, 21, and 28 days of incubation, respectively. Results of an OECD 301B test also confirmed the biodegradability of the substance.
