The category members of the Long Chain Alcohol Esters are readily biodegradable. Therefore, hydrolysis is not considered as a relevant degradation pathwayin the fate of the substances. The adsorption potential of the Long Chain Alcohol Esters is high indicated by a log Koc of 7.02 – 10.03. Hence, soil and sediment are expected to be the main targets for environmental distribution. However, due to the ready biodegradability, the substances will not persist in these compartments. Evaporation from water into air is negligible due to the low vapour pressure of < 0.001 Pa. However, if emitted into the air the substances are susceptible to indirect photodegradation (DT50 < 24 h) andit is concluded that they will not accumulate in air and will not be transported through the vapour phase into other environmental compartments in relevant amounts. Thus, air is not a likely route of environmental contamination and no accumulation and subsequent deposition is to be expected.Furthermore, bioaccumulation of the Long Chain Alcohol Esters is not expected due to the acknowledged rapid metabolism and excretion.
