Kinematic viscosity was determined on six different batches of Galden Low Molecular Weight both at 20 and 40°C. The obtained results are summarized in the following table:

Grade Batch No. Kinematic viscosity at 20°C ( mm2/s ) Kinematic viscosity at 40°C ( mm2/s )
HT55 1314SP 0.45 0.35
HT55 1631SP 0.45 0.35
HT55 1806SP 0.46 0.35
HT70 1021RR 0.55 0.42
HT70 3816OE 0.54 0.40
HT70 1531SP 0.54 0.41

The dynamic viscosity is obtained by multiplying the kinematic viscosity by the density of the liquid:

η = ν x ρ

η = dynamic viscosity

ν = kinematic viscosity ρ = density

Conclusions:
Galden Low Molecular Weight has a kinematic viscosity in the range between 0.45 and 0.55 cSt at 20°C and between 0.35 and 0.42 cSt at 40°C.
The calculated dynamic viscosity at 20°C is between 0.748 and 0.931 mPa s.
Executive summary:

The purpose of the measurements was to evaluate the kinematic viscosity of GALDEN LMW according to ASTM D445 method “Standard Test Method for Kinematic Viscosity of Transparent and Opaque Liquids (and Calculation of Dynamic Viscosity)”.

According to the method, the kinematic viscosity is expressed as a measurement of the time for a fixed volume of the test item to flow by gravity through a capillary viscometer. The kinematic viscosity is determined from the measure flow time and the calibration constant of the viscometer.

The dynamic viscosity can be obtained by multiplying the kinematic viscosity by the density of the liquid.

Measurements were performed on six different batches of GALDEN LMW at 20 and 40°C.

The results obtained from measurements show that Galden LMW has a kinematic viscosity in the range between 0.45 and 0.55 cSt at 20°C and between 0.35 and 0.42 cSt at 40°C. The calculated dynamic viscosity is between 0.748 and 0.931 mPa s.

Additional information

A study of kinematic viscosity for GALDEN LMW is reported. The measurements were conducted on six different batches (3 batches of GALDEN HT55 and 3 batches of GALDEN HT70) according to ASTM method No. 445 “Standard Test Method for Kinematic Viscosity of Transparent and Opaque Liquids (and Calculation of Dynamic Viscosity)”.

The results obtained from measurements show that Galden LMW has a kinematic viscosity in the range between 0.45 and 0.55 cSt at 20°C and between 0.35 and 0.42 cSt at 40°C. The calculated dynamic viscosity at 20 °C is between 0.748 and 0.931 mPa s (average value = 0.8395 mPas).
