Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Since no studies investigating the toxicity towards algae of Fatty acids, C14-18 and C16-18-unsatd., mixed esters with castor oil, castor oil Fatty acids, 2-ethylhexanoic acid and 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)-1-butanol (CAS No. 92113-48-9) are available, in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5 a read across to the structurally similar analogue substance Fatty acids, C14-18 and C18-unsatd., branched and linear, esters with trimethylolpropane (CAS No. 68002-79-9) was conducted. This read-across is justified in detail in the overall summary (IUCLID chapter 6.1) and within the analogue justification in IUCLID Section 13. The read across is justified based on common breakdown products, similar physico-chemical properties, environmental fate, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties.

The study with Fatty acids, C14-18 and C16-18 unsatd., triesters with trimethylolpropane (CAS-No. 68002-79-9) was performed as a limit test with a nominal Water Accommodated Fraction (WAF) of 100 mg/L according to OECD 201 (Scheerbaum, 2005). The static test with Desmodesmus subspicatus as test organism determined an ErL (72 h) > 100 mg/L after 72 h.
