Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The water solubility of the substance mixed esters of fatty acid C16 and C16-C18 unsatd. with adipic acid and pentaerythritol was determined by gravimetric analysis according to NF T 20-046.

In comparison to solubility (< 1 mg/L) of the structurally similar substance fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., mixed esters with adipic acid and trimethylolpropane (CAS 91001-61-5) the water solubility is quite high.

This might due to a higher weight caused by impurities or other source of error within the gravimetric analysis or to a relative relevant amount of not-reacted adipic acid which is more soluble than the reacted esters.

Since the pH is relatively low as well, this indicates that not-reacted adipic acid or pentaerythritol is still present.

The water solubility (1.081E-6 – 1.194E-6 mg/L at 25 °C) determined by QSAR calculation with WATERNT v1.01 is slightly increased compared to the water solubility (8,07E-7 -9.33E-7 mg/L at 25 °C) of the fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., mixed esters with adipic acid and trimethylolpropane but with a quite better agreement than the measured value; therefore the water solubility of the substance is deduced to be < 1 mg/L.
