Results

1. Residual moisture

The test item contains a residual moisture of 0.1 wt%, which was determined by drying the test item under vacuum.

The reference item potassium bromate contains a residual moisture of < 0.1 wt%, which was determined by drying the test item under vacuum. The reference item cellulose contains a residual moisture of 4.0 wt%, which was determined by drying the test item under vacuum.

2. Oxidizing properties

The results of the reference mixtures of Potassium bromate and Cellulose are shown in Table 2:

The mean burning times of the test item-to-Cellulose ratio 4:1 (139 s) and 1:1 (205 s) are higher than the mean burning times of a 3:7 and 2:3 mixture of Potassium bromate and Cellulose (113 s or 55 s, respectively).

The test item in the 4:1 or 1:1 test item-to-Cellulose ratio exhibits a mean burning time greater than the mean burning time of a 3:7 mixture of Potassium bromate and Cellulose.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
other: no oxidising properties
Remarks:
Migrated information UN-Transport Regulations / GHS
Conclusions:
The test item does not have to be classified as oxidizing solid in Division 5.1 according to the UN-Transport Regulations.
The test item does not have to be classified as oxidizing solid according to GHS and EC 1272/2008 (CLP-Guideline) Annex 1: 2.14.
Executive summary:

It was tested whether the test item should be assigned as oxidizing solid with respect to UN-Transport Regulations (Division 5.1) and GHS or EC 1272/2008 (CLP-Guideline) Annex 1:2.14, respectively.

Result: The test item in the 4:1 or 1:1 test item-to-Cellulose ratio exhibits a mean burning time greater than the mean burning time of a 3:7 reference mixture of Potassium bromate and Cellulose.

The test item is not an oxidizing solid.
