Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance consists mainly of quaternised acylammonium compounds (in form of their chlorides) and alkanolamine esters. The quaternised ammonium compounds can be assumed to be completely ionised in aqueous solution. A positively charged acylammonium cation and a negatively charged chloride anion will be formed.

A dissociation constant for a completely dissociated salt is not defined and can not be determined, because no undissociated species will be present in solution. Consequentlythe following is stated in the Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance, chapter 7.1.17:

"It is important to note that the dissolution of salts from their crystal lattice into individual ions is not intended to be covered by the endpoint dissociation constant".

The alkanolamine esters being part of the substance do not have dissociable groups in the molecule. A dissociation constant can therefore not be determined.

In conclusion it is not possible to determine a dissociation constant for the substance as an aqueous solution of the substance will contain only completely dissociated salts as well as species that do not contain dissociable group.
