The octanol-water partition coefficient of the substance was determined in the weight of evidence approach. The highest value, obtained applying KOWWIN v1.68 (US EPA Episuite v4.1) to C18 fatty alcohol was selected as worst case. The result of the calculation based on solubility ratio in n-octanol and water is assumed to provide the lower limit of the estimated range. Results of KOWWIN calculations for shorter chains and constituents containing glucopyranose rings (monomers or dimers) are in the range from 3.35 to 6.73.
