Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Toxicokinetic ssessment. See 7.1.1
Bioaccumulation: Log Kow: -3,24
absorption rate (oral): 50 % (default from Guidance document)
absorption rate (dermal: 100% (default from Guidance document)
absorption rate (inhalation: 100% (default from Guidance document)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Bioaccumulation potential:
no bioaccumulation potential
Absorption rate - oral (%):
50
Absorption rate - dermal (%):
100
Absorption rate - inhalation (%):
100

Additional information

The substance has no bioaccumulation potential, thanks to very high water solubility and very low Log Kow.

None of the available studies has shown any effect on any organism, barring some adaptive effects to sodium overload in the 90-day study. At this point in time, it is not sure if the methallylsulfonate ion is capable of passing biological membranes. Skin absorption rate is likely to be low due to complete ionisation (the substance is a salt) . However, in the absence of toxicokinetic and dermal absorption studies, the default values from the Guidance document have been used for risk assessment
