Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A test on sediment organisms is not needed as MPA is not likely sorbed to sediment.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A test on sediment organisms is not needed as the calculated Koc value is 2.214 and is thus below the trigger value for sediment effects assessment of 500 - 1000. Furthermore, according to column 2 in Annex X of Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, a toxicity test with sediment organisms is not needed if the outcome of the chemical safety assessment indicates no unacceptable effects on sediment organisms. In a first step, the PNEC for the sediment is derived from the PNEC aqua (freshwater) using the equilibrium partitioning method. If the risk characterisation ratio is higher than 1, the effect on sediment organisms needs to be investigated further and the PNEC sediment should be derived from a study result.
