Description of key information
Based on the observation in the acute dermal toxicity study, the test substance has to be classified as corrosive.

In the acute dermal toxicity study, a severe dermal response (characterized by necrosis/whitening of the epidermis and moderate edema) was evident following removal of the dressings. A similar level of dermal response was persistent throughout the majority of the study with some slight recovery evident by Day 13. Furthermore, a pH of 12.9 was determined using a 10% w/v solution in distilled water confirming the irritant potential of the active ingredients of the test substance. On the basis of these findings, skin and eye irritation studies don´t have to be performed.
Justification for classification or non-classification
The test substance needs to be classified as C:R34 according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Skin Corr 1B:H314 according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
