Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Symptomatic treatment.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse eyes continuously with water for at least 15 minutes
and obtain immediate medical attention.

NOTE TO PHYSICIAN:

This material is strongly acidic and classified as a severe
eye irritant. Consider further flushing of the eyes with
large amounts of water or saline. Because of the possibility
of permanent eye damage, refer all such cases to an
ophthalmologist.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with plenty of soap and water. Obtain medical
assistance if skin reaction occurs, which may be immediate
or delayed.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Foam, carbon dioxide or dry powder may be used (but not
water jets which may intensify the fire or be ineffective).

Product arising from burning: Products of combuston may contain oxides of carbon and
sulfur and some soot.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1).

Absorb spillages with a suitable inert material (eg. sand or
soil). Carefully transfer the spillage to labelled waste
containers, or use a sealed industrial vacuum machine fitted
with an appropriate filtration system. Dispose of at a
landfill site or by incineration in accordance with local
regulations.

Clean spillage area with water and direct the washings to an
on-site waste water treatment system.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the usual precautions for handling organic
chemicals. Ensure adequate ventilation, use local exhaust
ventilation. Avoid inhalation, ingestion and contact with
skin and eyes. Protective clothing, chemical-resistant
gloves, safety goggles and an appropriate respirator should
be used.

For laboratory use, a fumehood should be used in addition to
protective equipment, especially if mist or vapour formation
is likely to occur.

Storage: Store refrigerated at 0 to 5 deg C.

Keep containers tightly closed in a well-ventilated area
away from sources of ignition.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 90, 120 or 200 litre fibre drums with an inner polyethylene
liner.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for recycling is not feasible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with
inert material (eg. sand) may be disposed of by landfill at
an authorised tip in accordance with local regulations.
(A650)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration in
accordance with local regulations. Waste gas treatment to
remove oxides of sulfur should be fitted. (A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The neat substance should not be discharged to the aquatic
environment.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
