First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with large volumes of water.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Remove material from mouth, drink plenty of water. If a
large amount has been swallowed and/or symptoms develop,
seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Recommended extinguishing agents: Water spray, foam, dry
powder and carbon dioxide may be used. (Halons may be used
but should be avoided in view of long-term environmental
effects).
Product arising from burning: Products arising from pyrolysis: Combustion products will
be carbon oxides. Pyrolysis is expected to result in
caramel formation.
Protective equipment: Protective equipment: Wear protective clothing and if
necessary a self-contained breathing apparatus. Observe the
usual precautions for inorganic chemicals with flash points
>100 deg C.
Accidental release measures
Handling and storage
Handling: The normal precautions for handling organic chemicals
should be observed. Avoid prolonged skin and eye contact.
Avoid inhalation of aerosols.
