First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

In case of inhalation: Move the victim to fresh air and keep him or her at rest. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen by an authorised person. Seek medical advice if the effects continue.

In case of contact with skin: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Rinse affected skin with plenty of soap and water. Seek medical advice if irritation continues.

In case of contact with eyes: In case of eye contact, rinse with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Ensure adequate rinsing of the eyes by separating the eyelids with your fingers. Seek medical advice if necessary.

In case of ingestion: If swallowed, rinse the mouth with water if the person is conscious. Do not induce vomiting and drink 2-4 tablespoons of milk or water. Obtain medical attention.

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: Use sand, foam, dry chemicals or carbon dioxide. 

SPECIAL HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE SUBSTANCE OR MIXTURE
It can produce toxic fumes of carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide and oxides of nitrogen on combustion. No hazardous polymerisation occurs.

ADVICE FOR FIREFIGHTERS
For individual units (drum): No special requirements. For large quantities (several drums/pallets) of product: Toxic, corrosive or flammable vapours may evolve from fires involving the product and associated packaging, and therefore a breathing apparatus (full-face mask with "Universal" filter) and full protective equipment are recommended for firefighters. If possible, contain and collect water used in the fire for subsequent disposal. Water sprays can be used to cool closed containers.

Accidental release measures

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
• Prevention of skin and eye contact and personal clothing: wear protective clothing, protective glasses, rubber boots and heavy-duty rubber gloves.
• Removal of ignition sources: not applicable
• Provision for sufficient ventilation/ respiratory protection: wear an independent respirator. Evacuate the area and aerate the zone contaminated by the spilt product after cleaning it away completely.
• Control of dust: avoid forming clouds of dust/powder.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS
Do not allow the product to enter water or the soil. Prevent it from entering the drains or sewers. Use suitable containers for preventing environmental pollution. Alert neighbourhood: not necessary.

METHODS AND MATERIAL FOR CONTAINMENT AND CLEANING UP
• Use of absorbent material: vermiculite, dry sand, earth.
• Cleaning methods: use suitable personal protection. Clean only under expert supervision. Remove the product by mechanical means (hoover protected against discharge Remove by mechanical means (vacuum cleaner protected from electric shock) or with a wet brush; recover the product where possible by collecting it in clean containers for reuse or disposal. Wash the area contaminated by the product with water after it has been completely recovered. Ventilate the environment. Seal and label containers. Remove contaminated materials. Do not pour product down drains. Use appropriate containers to avoid environmental pollution. Hand containers to waste disposal personnel.

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING
• Containment, local and general ventilation, measures to prevent aerosol and dust generation and fire:  the premises set up for the handling of the product must be fitted out with localised and controlled aeration systems (laminar
flow hoods, etc.) capable of confining the dispersion of the active ingredient in the form of air-dispersed powder. Use hoods with interchangeable filters
• Prevent handling of incompatible substances or mixtures: not applicable
• Advice on general occupational hygiene: use suitable personal protection devices including certified respirators, protective safety glasses and compatible gloves resistant against chemical agents. Wash yourself with care after each handling operation. Never eat, drink or smoke during handling. Safety shower and washing stations for rinsing eyes must be provided.

INDIVIDUAL PROTECTION MEASURES SUCH AS PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
- EYE/ FACE PROTECTION Tightly fitting safety glasses. Protective visor (minimum 20 cm). Use eye protection equipment tested and approved according to the requirements of appropriate technical standards such as NIOSH (USA) or EN 166 (EU)
- SKIN PROTECTION Use work overalls and/or coat, or dustproof overalls in Tyvek with hood for industrial type operations.
- HAND PROTECTION
- Type of material and thickness Handle with nitrile or nitrile rubber (neoprene) gloves. Gloves should be checked before use. Use proper glove removal technique (without touching the outer surface of the glove) to avoid skin contact with this product Dispose of contaminated gloves after use in accordance with current regulations and good laboratory practice. Wash and dry hands. Minimum thickness: 0.11 mm (nitrile).
- Typical or minimum breakthrough times of the glove material: Splash contact Material: butyl rubber. Minimum thickness: 0.7 mm . Penetration time: > 30 min.
- RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: if the risk assessment indicates the need for air-purifying respirators, use a full-face mask with ABEK (EN 14387) type combination filters as an aid to technical measures. If the respirator is the only means of protection, use a ventilated full-face system. Use respirators and components tested and approved by the relevant standardisation bodies, such as NIOSH (USA) CEN (EU).
