Description of key information

3-bromo-1-(3-chloropyridin-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid is at 20°C a odourless, beige solid. The substance is melting at 202°C and is boiling at 221.8°C. The main particle size is between 25 and 710 µm. Relative density was determined to 1.829 at 20.1 °C.

The partition coefficient log Pow(octanol/water) is 1.5 with a water solubility of 4161 mg/L (pH =4), 8840 mg/L (pH =7) and 6142 mg/L (pH =9). The pH value of a 1% w/v solution is 2.7 in a acidic range.

3-Bromo-1-(3-chloro-2-pyridinyl)-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid is well soluble in semi-polar solvents (DMF, DMSO) with a solubility of higher than 250 g/L. In aromatic (p-xylene) or halogenated solvents (dichloromethane) for 3-Bromo-1-(3-chloro-2-pyridinyl)-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid only low solubility was found with less than 10 g/L.

No self-ignition was detected up to 400°C and the substance did not show any explosive properties (friction, shock, thermal). Additionally, no oxidising properties were found which is in accordance with the chemical structure.
