Outline of method:
The test substance was placed in the cup of the flash point tester, with the lid closed and heated at a slow constant rate. A small flame of specified size was directed into the cup at regular intervals, then repeated to ignite the test substance in an closed cup. The flash point was taken as the lowest temperature at which application of the test flame causes the vapor above the sample to ignite.
