First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

If health problems or doubts occur, always seek medical advice and provide him information given in this safety data sheet.

Inhalation

Stop working and move or take the victim to fresh air and provide conditions for rest in a position comfortable for breathing. In case of unconsciousness, maintain airway patency. If breathing difficulties persist, obtain medical attention.

Skin contact

Take off contaminated clothing immediately. Wash contaminated skin with plenty of soap and water. Wash the clothes before reuse. If any symptoms occur, consult a physician.

Eye contact

If the victim wears contact lenses, they should be removed before washing, if possible. Flush eyes with plenty of water as soon as possible and as thoroughly as possible for about 15 minutes with the eyelid held wide open. Avoid strong water stream due to the risk of mechanical damage to the cornea. Contact an ophthalmologist.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth with water. Give plenty of water to drink only if the injured person is conscious. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do not induce vomiting. In case of malaise or ingestion of large amounts, consult a doctor.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media:CO2, foams, water spray and other extinguishing media suitable for materials burning around the product.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

The product is not flammable under normal conditions. The products of decomposition and combustion of the mixture may be toxic. Inhalation of gases formed during thermal decomposition may cause irritation and corrosive effects on the respiratory system. Lung effects may be delayed. Persons who have been exposed to the inhalation of decomposition gases should receive immediate medical attention.

Advice for firefighters

Use gas-tight protective clothing and personal breathing apparatus. Quench (smoke) fumes/gases/vapors/mists with a water spray. Fire residues should be disposed of in accordance with applicable regulations. Do not allow contaminated fire extinguishing water to reach ground and surface waters.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

For emergency responders:

Inform the surroundings about the accident;  remove from the danger area all persons not involved in the liquidation of the accident; order evacuation if necessary. People participating in the rescue operation should be equipped with protective clothing and respiratory protection apparatus (see information in section 8). Avoid skin and eye contamination. If released in a closed space, provide effective ventilation.

For non-emergency personnel:

Avoid prolonged direct contact with the releasing product. Avoid dust formation and inhalation.

Environmental precautions

Prevent from entering the sewage system, to groundwater, surface waters and soil.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Secure the sewer inlets. If possible, secure against further spilling of the product. Place the damaged packaging in a replacement packaging. Collect the spilled product dry. Rinse off residues with plenty of water. Use the collected product and washings as intended or transfer them to be utilized in accordance with local regulations.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Use as intended only by trained and properly equipped with personal protective equipment personnel. Do not inhale the dust. Do not eat, drink or smoke during work with the product. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering food-handling areas. Wash hands before breaks and after finishing work. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Store in a tight, labelled container in well-ventilated rooms. Protect against sunlight and weather conditions. Keep away from incompatible products, food and feed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure control

Use in accordance with the principles of good industrial practice and safety principles. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Keep away from food. Wash hands and face after handling the product. Take off contaminated clothing immediately and wash before reuse. Personal protective equipment must meet the relevant national and international standards. Employer is obliged to ensure equipment adequate to activities carried out, with quality demands, cleaning and maintenance.

Information on appropriate personal protective equipment for the identified uses can be found in the exposure scenarios. In sections 8.2.1 and 8.2.2. provides information on suggested protective measures.

Appropriate engineering controls

Local and general ventilation.

Personal protection measures such as individual protection equipment

Eye/face protection

Tightly fitting safety glasses (EN 166).

Skin protection

Protection of hands

Coated protective gloves in accordance with EN374 and CE marking.

Other

Protective shoes and clothing (EN 340).

Respiratory protection

The use of appropriate breathing apparatus or air filters is required when dusts are generated or when the maximum occupational exposure limit is exceeded. The choice of respirator should be based on the known or expected level of exposure, product danger and occupational safety limits (according to EN 143).

Thermal hazards

Not required.

Environmental exposure controls

Emissions from ventilation systems and process equipment should be controlled to determine their compliance with the requirements of environmental laws.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

The product is not reactive under recommended storage conditions.

Chemical stability

The product is stable under recommended conditions of use and storage. The product is hygroscopic - moisture may be absorbed from the air if the packaging leaks.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

Under normal conditions of use, hazardous reactions may not occur.

Conditions to avoid

Water, moisture, mechanical damage to the packaging, high temperature (temperature of thermal decomposition is 160°C).

Incompatible materials

Unknown.

Hazardous decomposition products

Under normal conditions of use, no hazardous decomposition products occur. Under the influence of high temperature it can decompose with the release of harmful gases.
