Two DSC measurements with a heating rate of 10 K/min showed an endothermal effect in the temperature range of 110 - 130 °C. The first measurement ending at 500 °C showed a second endothermal effect in the temperature range of 250 - 310 °C. The onset temperature was derived from the intersection of the tangent line with the highest slope of the endothermal peak with the baseline.

Since in the second measurement ending at 180 °C a solidified melt was observed after the measurement, the first endotherm effect with an onset temperature of 117.9 °C can be assigned to the melting point of the test item. The test item had a mean melting point of 117.1 °C.

Conclusions:
The melting point of the test substance was determined to be 117 °C.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted according to OECD TG 102 and Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.1 to determine the melting point of the test item using differential scanning calorimetry. The test item and the reference were heated up from the starting temperature to the final temperature at a constant heating rate in a defined atmosphere (nitrogen). Aluminium crucibles with hole were used as containers for the test item and the reference. Two DSC measurements with a heating rate of 10 K/min showed an endothermal effect in the temperature range of 110 - 130 °C. The first measurement ending at 500 °C showed a second endothermal effect in the temperature range of 250 - 310 °C. The test item had a mean melting point of 117.1 °C (1013 hPa).

Description of key information

The test item had a mean melting point of 117.1 °C (reference 4.2-1).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
