Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse eyes carefully and thoroughly with plenty of water.

Seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: In case of skin contact wipe off mechanically. Wash

afflicted areas thorougly with soap and plenty of water.

Contamined clothing must be changed.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: After ingestion of greater amounts give plenty of water to

drink. If necessary cause vomitting. Seek medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: There is no restriction in the choice of extinguishing

agents.

Product arising from burning: Products arising from burning or pyrolysis (please indicate,

if this information derives from tests carried out on the

substance.

CO, CO2, water nitric oxid containing gases arise from

burning or pyrolysis of nitrogenous organic substances.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: respiratory protection and protective clothing, depending on

the scale of fire and local conditions.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Substance may not come into the waste water system; solvent

containing material must be kept away from ignition sources.

Avoid inhalation and contact with skin. Take care of

sufficient ventilation or exhaustion.

Spilled substance should be taken up with absorbent and

stored in labelled drums; damaged drums must be placed in a

labelled safety container. Cleaning personal must follow the

precautions listed in 2.3.1.

Disposal should be carried out in accordance with existing

environmental legislation and applicable local regulations

(incineration).

Handling and storage

Handling: The product should be handled with good hygiene precautions.

Skin and eye contact must be avoided. Suitable safety

goggles, clothing and gloves are recommended if there is a

possible skin contact with the product. (The product induces

cutaneous sensitization and is slightly irritant to eyes and

skin, labelling Xi). Keep away from foodstuff. The

inhalation of the vapours must be avoided. Provide effective

ventilation (at spraying it ist necessary to use respiratory

protection).

Processing may only be accomplished in explosion proof rooms

due to butylacetate as solvent (flash point = 25 °C). At

contact with solvent containing materials all necessary

measures have to be taken; sufficient ventilation or

exhaustion is required.

Wash hands before breaks and at end of work.

Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Explosion

protection is required when handling butylacetate-containing

material.

Storage: The product must be stored dry and at room temperature in

tightly closed containers. Storage rooms should be treated

with common hygiene precautions.

After taking out material containers have to be closed

properly. Residues outside the container must be avoided.

Preparations with butylacetate are flammable; remove sources

of fire. Penetration of soil with material or extinguishing

water must be avoided.

The preparation of ZWI 579 is flammable (10 % solvent). Keep

away from ignition sources. Take measures against

electrostatic charging.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 60 l plastic or metal cans.

Special provisions / remarks
Remarks:
Transport code: UN-NR. 1123
Transport: Due to the cutaneous irritation and sensitization potential
of ZWI 579 the preparation must be stored in tightly closed
containers even for internal transportation. (classification
GGVS/GGVE class 3, number 31 C). Suitable unbreakable
packaging, protection against falling down and proper
labelling assure save transport. All containers must be
labelled according to the regulations.

Opend containers must be closed carefully to avoid spillage.
Keep dry and separate from foodstuffs.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: unknown

Chemical reaction with water: no dangerous reaction with water.

Dust explosion: Not applicable - liquid

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: From a solvent containing preparation the solvent can be

removed by destillation. Recovery from the two component

coating material is impossible because of the reaction with

polyisocyanate; The handling time of the coating material

takes only some hours.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No special methods are known to neutralize the dangers

arising from the substance.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: No dumping on waste disposal sites (loquid).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration is the favorite and recommended way of removal.

The thereby produced waste gases are common to those

arising from the incineration of oxygen- and

nitrogen-containing organic compounds.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: At this time there is no information about the removal rate

by waste water treatment. ZWI 579 is practically unsoluble

in water; but in water rapid hydrolysis is observed.

Normally neutralization is required before intoduction in

the sewage plant.

At appropriate introduction of small concentrations in

adapted waste water treatment plants deterioration of the

power of the activated sludge is not to be expected.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance is not used in public area.
