Description of key information

No toxicity to Fish, Daphnia and algae was observed for the category members when tested in acute toxicity tests up to their solubility limit. Since the category members are expected to show the same toxicity level to aquatic organisms due to common structural and physico-chemical properties, Ethyl decanoate is considered to show no acute toxicity to Fish, Daphnia and algae when tested up to its solubility limit. This lack of adverse effects observed for a category member in a chronic daphnia test, was confirmed for the target substance Ethyl decanoate, tested according to OECD 211 and under GLP. The NOEC on the reproduction of Daphnia magna was ≥ 88.9 µg/L (meas., TWA) which is the concentration of saturation of Ethyl decanoate in the tested medium.
