The determination of biodegradation was evaluated on the substance itself, based on BOD5 and COD.

The BOD5 test is a traditional biodegradation test that is now replaced by the ready biodegradability tests.

Therefore, this test should not be performed today for assessment of the read biodegradability of substances. Older test data may, however, be used when no other degradability data are available.

Other data are available on a similar substance, a modified ZAHN-WELLENS-Test (OECD 302B) and a BOD5 and COD tests.

Results revealed that the similar substance 01 is inherently biodegradable based on the ZAHN-WELLENS-Test (OECD 302B) outcome, but non-readily biodegradable.

Based on the criterion BOD5/COD ≥ 0.5, the substance itself and the similar substance 01 are resulted not biodegradable.

Based on the QSAR and data evaluation on the substance itself, and the Read Across principle, the substance can be considered not readily biodegradable. Justification for Read Across is detailed in the report attached to the IUCLID section 13.
