Test organisms

Test organisms (species):
Desmodesmus subspicatus (previous name: Scenedesmus subspicatus)
Details on test organisms:
Scenedesmus subspicatus is obtained in lAUS GmbH from the "Collection of Alga",
sited at "lnstitut fur Pflanzenphysiologie" of University Gottingen. The alga are kept
as stock culture.

Study design

Test type:
static
Water media type:
freshwater
Limit test:
no
Total exposure duration:
72 h

Test conditions

Test temperature:
21 ± 2°C
Details on test conditions:
The test vessels were incubated open for 72 hours, stirred with magnetic stirrers.
Lighting was performed with 8000 Lux. Every day, the cell number was determined
using the absorption of the cuvettes at 440 nm (photometer PU 8625). Before and
after the test, the pH value in the control was measured. The measured values for
optical density were recorded on a form sheet and evaluated after the test using the
software Origin™.
