Description of key information

Appearance:

On the basis of physical observation and using the sense of smell, Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate was observed to be a colorless - slightly yellow colour liquid.

Freezing point:

Freezing point of Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate is determine to be 26.5 Deg C.

Boiling Point:

Boiling point of Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate is determine to be 193.35 Deg C.

Density:

Density of Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate) determine to be 1.1602 g/cm3 at 25 Deg C.

Particle size distribution:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form. On the basis of physical observation and using the sense of smell, Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate was observed to be a colorless - slightly yellow colour liquid.

Vapour pressure:

The estimated vapour pressure of Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate at 25 deg C was 33.7 Pa.

Partition coefficient:

Based on the available data from modeling databases using the KOWWIN V1.68 program, the partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substance(E)-(ethyl N-hydroxyethenecarboximidate)was estimated to be 0.44. On the basis of this estimated value, the test substance (E)-(ethyl N-hydroxyethenecarboximidate) can be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.

Water solubility:

The estimated water solubility of Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate at 25 deg C was 4.849E+04 mg/l.

Surface tension:

Based on the data from ACD labs, surface tension for Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate was predicted to be 0.0284 N/m.

Flash point:

Flash point of Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate is determine to be 55 Deg C. As flash point is in between 23 Deg C to 60 Deg C, according to GHS criteria Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate classified under flammable liquid 3.

Auto flammability:

Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°Cpressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that  Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment. The test chemical is a flammable liquid 3 and can react vigorously with oxidizing materials. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties which include oxygen, but the calculated oxygen balance is less than - 200.

Oxidizing properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.

Additional information

Appearance:

Density:

Density of Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate) determine to be 1.1602 g/cm3 at 25 Deg C.

From other reliable sourece it is concluded that density of Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate concluded to be 0.9809 g/cm3 at 24.86 Deg C.

Modified Grain method was used to estimate the vapour pressure of Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate using MPBPVP v1.43 of EPI SUITE.

The estimated vapour pressure of Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate at 25 deg C was 33.7 Pa.

Partition coefficient:

Based on the available datain a key studyfrom modeling databases using the KOWWIN V1.68 program, the partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substance (E)-(ethyl N-hydroxyethenecarboximidate) was estimated to be 0.44.

In a supporting study from modelling database, the partition coefficient value of the substance (E)-(ethyl N-hydroxyethenecarboximidate) was estimated to be 0.89.

Additional study from predicted database indicates that the octanol water partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substance (E)-(ethyl N-hydroxyethenecarboximidate) was estimated to be 0.773.

Thus, based on the available information, the logPow valueof the test substance (E)-(ethyl N-hydroxyethenecarboximidate) ranges from 0.44 to 0.89, respectively. On the basis of this value, chemical (E)-(ethyl N-hydroxyethenecarboximidate) can be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.

Water solubility:

WSKOW v1.42 was used to estimate the water solubility of Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate.

The estimated water solubility of Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate at 25 deg C was 4.849E+04mg/l.

Based on the estimated value, Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate was very soluble in water.

Surface tension:

Based on the data from ACD labs, surface tension for Ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate was predicted to be 0.0284 N/m.
