Description of key information

In a 96h static acute toxicity to fish test onOncorrhynchus mykiss(rainbow trout), the EC50 value for the test substance BMS 233110-01, was 17.69 mg/l. The NOEC was >12.5 mg/l.

In a 48h acute aquatic toxicity test onDaphnia magna, the EC50 value for the test substance BMS 233110-01, was 30.34 mg/l. The NOEC was 12.5 mg/l.

BMS 233110-01 resulted in a EbC50 (72 hours) of 4.3 mg/l and a ErC50 (0-72 hours) of 5.68 mg/l in Selenastrum Capricornutum, Strain No. CCAP 278/4. The NOEC was considered for growth rate and biomass was 1.98 mg/l.

BMS 233110-01 had no biologically significant inhibitory effect on the respiration rate of activated sludge at 100 mg/l. The highest concentration tested was1000mg/l which resulted in a inhibition of 16% however as this was the highest concentration the EC50 would be considered to be greater than 1000 mg/ml, the highest level tested.

Based on the above, the substance is classified for Chronic aquatic toxicity, category 2.
