The water solubility of hexachlorocyclopentadiene is 1.53 mg/L at 25 °C (standard deviation = 0.51 mg/L)

Additional information

A literature search of available information for the water solubility of Hexachlorocyclopentadiene identified a number of experimental values. Only the data from Chuo et al. (1983) gives experimental information, from a method not in line with currently accepted protocols. Therefore a Weight of Evidence approach will be taken to estimate the water solubility. In accordance with the recommended approach given by ECHA (2016) and NIST (2015) the value will be calculated as follows:

1. Estimates of the mean and standard deviation are computed.

2. Values greater than three times the standard deviations of the mean are excluded.

3. If values have been excluded, the process is repeated with estimates based on the remaining values.

The available values were obtained at different temperatures. There is not a wide range in test temperatures, therefore it is considered as acceptable to calculate the water solubility using the available values. The water solubility of hexachlorocyclopentadiene is 1.53 mg/l at 25°C (standard deviation = 0.51 mg/l).
