Results of preliminary test, Pensky-Martens:

The result of the preliminary test with the search program is summarized in the following table. An ignition is indicated by + and no ignition by -.

Prior to the measurement a sample of the test item was heated up to 55 °C due to the high viscosity of the test item. The test was terminated at 255.8 °C, due to the fact that the test item clumped together and was jellylike. Up to 255.8 °C no flash point could be observed. Further tests were performed with the Rapid-Tester.

In the main test the lowest temperature where an ignition was observed was 210.5 °C.

The measured flash point is corrected to the ambient pressure to be 211.1 °C.

The resulting average corrected flash point rounded down to the nearest multiple of 0.5 °C is 211.0 °C.

Description of key information

Flash point = 211 °C at 987.7 hPa (A.9., ISO 3069)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The flash point of the test item was determined using the rapid equilibrium closed cup method according to EU Method A.9., ISO 3069.
