Additional information

Acute oral:

Based on the QSAR prediction done using the Danish (Q)SAR Database, the LD50 was estimated to be 1000 mg/kg bw on mouse for substance m-Methoxyacetophenone.

On the basis of Danish (Q) SAR Database (2016), the LD50 was estimated to be 1500 mg/kg bw on rat for substance m-Methoxyacetophenone.

In a study conducted for read across by Schaferet al.(1985), acute oral toxicity was evaluated in deer mice by using 3-Acetylphenol in by oral for 3 days. 50% Mortality was observed at a range concentration of 470-1600mg/kg. Therefore, LD50 was considered to be to be 470-1600mg/kg when deer mice treated with 3-Acetylphenol orally.

In a RTECS data base (2016) for read across Ethanone, 1-(3, 5-dimethoxyphenyl), LD 50 value for mouse was found to be > 1000 mg/kg.

Thus, based on this value for m-Methoxyacetophenone(CAS no 586-37-8) and its structurally related read across 3-Acetylphenol (CAS no 121-71-2) and Ethanone, 1-(3, 5-dimethoxyphenyl) (CAS no 39151 -19 -4), it can be concluded that the substance can be classified in Acute toxicity Category IV as per the criteria of CLP regulation.

Justification for selection of acute toxicity – oral endpoint
LD50 was estimated to be 1000 mg/kg bw on mouse for substance m-Methoxyacetophenone.

Justification for classification or non-classification

m-Methoxyacetophenone substance can be classified in Acute toxicity Category IV as per the criteria of CLP regulation.
