First-aid measures

General advice:
Immediately remove contaminated clothing. First aid personnel should pay attention to their own safety.

If inhaled:
Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention. After inhalation of decomposition products, remove the affected person to a source of fresh air and keep calm. Provide medical aid. Inhale corticosteroid dose aerosol.

On skin contact:
Wash thoroughly with soap and water.

On contact with eyes:
Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open, consult an eye specialist.

On ingestion:
Rinse mouth immediately and then drink plenty of water, seek medical attention.

Note to physician:
Treatment: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), treat with toluonium chloride to reverse methaemoglobinanaemia.

Fire-fighting measures

Use extinguishing measures to suit surroundings.

Specific hazards:
Sulphur dioxide, sulphur trioxide, nitrous gases
The substances/groups of substances mentioned can be released if the product is involved in a fire.

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Further information:
Product itself is non-combustible; fire extinguishing method of surrounding areas must be considered. Keep containers cool by spraying with water if exposed to fire. Collect contaminated extinguishing water separately, do not allow to reach sewage or effluent systems.

Avoid mist formation. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid inhalation. Use personal protective clothing.

Environmental precautions:
Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater. Contain contaminated water/firefighting water. Suppress gases/vapours/mists with water spray jet.

Methods for cleaning up or taking up:
For small amounts: Sweep/shovel up. Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with regulations.
For large amounts: Sweep/shovel up. Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with regulations.

Handling and storage

Breathing must be protected when large quantities are decanted without local exhaust ventilation.

The substance/product is non-combustible.

Storage
Segregate from oxidants. Segregate from alkalies and alkalizing substances. Segregate from metals. Segregate from nitrites.

Further information on storage conditions: Store in unopened original containers in a cool and dry place.

Protect from temperatures above: 80 °C
