A study on the toxicity to aquatic algae for the test substance itself is not available. However, data on an analogous substance are available. A toxicity test according OECD 201 and GLP has been conducted (NOTOX 2002). Selenastrum capricornutum were exposed to the analogue substance for 72 h in a limit test. Due to the low water solubility a saturated solution has been used.
After 72 h no effects within the range of solubility have been observed. Therefore, the EC50 was determined to be > 100 mg/L and the NOEC was determined to be ≥ 100 mg/L after 72 h.
To support the results of the analogue substance, a QSAR calculation using the test substance itself has been conducted. Also, the QSAR calculation showed no effects within the range of solubility and supports therefore the results from the analogue substance.
In overall conclusion, it can be stated that the test substance is not acutely harmful to aquatic algae.
