First-aid measures

General information

Seek medical advice immediately

Ensure that the First Aid Personnel are aware of the product involved, and take precautions to protect

themselves (e.g. wear personal protection equipment).

Remove affected person from danger area, lay him down.

Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately

Keep warm, calm and covered up.

After inhalation

Summon a doctor immediately.

Remove the casualty into fresh air and keep him calm.

After contact with skin

Summon a doctor immediately.

In case of contact with skin wash off immediately with polyethylene glycol 400, then with plenty of water

After contact with eyes

Summon a doctor immediately.

In case of contact with the eyes rinse thoroughly with plenty of water or with an eye-cleaning solution.

After ingestion

When swallowed seek medical aid immediately and show the physician the packaging or the label of

the packaging.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media

alcohol-resistant foam

dry powder

carbon dioxide

water spray jet

Extinguishing media that must not be used for safety reasons

Full water jet

Special hazards from the substance itself, its combustion products or from its vapours

In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed:

boron oxides

Nitrous gases (NOx)

Carbon monoxide (CO)

Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Special protective equipment for firefighting

Do not inhale explosion and/or combustion gases

Use self-contained breathing apparatus

Further information

Fire residues and contaminated firefighting water must be disposed of in accordance with the local

regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions

Use personal protective clothing.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Remove persons to safety.

Environmental precautions

Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil

Contain contaminated water/firefighting water

If the product gets into drains, inform the relevant authorities immediately.

Methods for cleaning up/taking up

Take up with suitable equipment and if necessary collect in closed containers

Avoid raising dust

Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing environmental regulations

When picked up, treat material as prescribed under heading "Disposal".

Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with the regulations.

Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled

Handling and storage

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each Manufacturing site.  Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from affected Distributor and Downstream Manufacturer/User of the Registrant's intermediate.

Advice on safe handling

Provide good ventilation of working area (local exhaust ventilation if necessary).

Avoid the formation and deposition of dust.

Provide exhaust ventilation if dust is formed.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

In principle, with organic products which are -intentionally or unintentionally- in powdered form, the

danger of a dust explosion should be kept in mind.

Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charges - earthing necessary during loading

operations.

Keep away from sources of ignition - refrain from smoking.

Dust can form an explosive mixture with air.

Observe the general rules of industrial fire protection

Advice on storage compatibility

Do not store or transport together with foodstuffs

Further information on storage conditions

Keep container tightly closed in a well-ventilated place

Protect from heat and direct sunlight

Exposure controls / personal protection

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). General protective measures

Do not inhale dust. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Hygiene measures

Do not eat, drink or smoke during work time. Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately and clean thoroughly before using again.

Garments that cannot be cleaned must be destroyed (burnt). Keep away from foodstuffs and beverages. Clean hands and face during work intervals and after work. Avoid contact of the substance.

Respiratory protection : Dust mask. Use respiratory protection in case of insufficient exhaust ventilation or prolonged exposure.

Hand protection

Nitrile rubber applied on knitted cotton for mechanical stress.

Leather gloves. Because this glove is used only for mechanical protection, the minimum breakthrough time and thickness are not relevant to safety.

For long-term exposure:

Butyl rubber gloves. These types of protective gloves are offered by various manufacturers. Please note the manufacturers´ detailed statements, especially about the minimum thickness and the minimum breakthrough time. Consider also the particular working conditions under which the gloves are being used., With solid dry substances permeation is not to be expected, therefore the breakthrough-time for this protective glove has not been measured.

Eye protection : tightly fitting safety glasses

Body protection : Impermeable protective clothing

Stability and reactivity

Thermal decomposition : not determined, No decomposition if used as prescribed.

Hazardous reactions: When handled and stored appropriately no dangerous reactions are known.

Hazardous decomposition products: boron oxides, nitrous gases, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.

Disposal considerations

Product

Special waste incineration plant, after consultation with operators. Observe local authority regulations.

Uncleaned packaging

Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste. For disposal local regulation is binding.
