Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

8.1. Assessment of PBT/vPvB Properties - Comparison with the Criteria of Annex XIII

8.1.1. Persistence Assessment

A substance is not considered to be persistent if it can be demonstrated that it has potential to degrade (via photolysis, hydrolysis and/or biodegradation)

Based on the available measured data, the substance is biodegradable. Therefore, based on initial persistence screening the substance is not expected to meet the Persistent (P) or very Persistent (vP) criteria.

8.1.2. Bioaccumulation Assessment

As a screening criterion it has been established that if the log Kow of the substance is lower than 4.5 it indicates that the substance will not fulfil the bioaccumulative (B) or very bioaccumulative (vB) criteria.

Available experimental aquatic BCF or biomagnifications data can be compared directly against the B and vB criteria

As a screening criterion it has been established that if the log Kow of the substance is equal to or higher than 4.5, it indicates that the substance has a high bioaccumulation potential and therefore fulfils the B criterion.

Available experimental aquatic BCF or biomagnification data can be compared directly against the B and vB criteria.

n-hexane is there for not considered B or vB.

8.1.3. Toxicity Assessment

No representative structures were identified as PB or vPvB, therefore a toxicity assessment is not needed.
