First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move patient to fresh air. If necessary, seek medical

attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Irrigate with water for 10-15 minutes. If irritation

develops, seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Drink plenty of water to dilute the chemical. Do not induce

vomiting, seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products may contain carbon and nitrogen oxides

together with some hydrogen chloride gas and soot. Some

metal oxides may be formed. Suitable extinguishing media

are water mist, foam, dry powder and carbon dioxide. A

self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Contain spills, collect substance and place in suitable

containers for disposal by incineration at a licensed

facility. Ventilate the area and wash the spill site. Wear

a dust mask.

Handling and storage

Handling: Use only in well-ventilated areas. Do not breathe dust.

Wearing of a filter mask is recommended in well-ventilated

areas (eg BS6016 Type 2). Do not get in eyes or clothing,

wear safety goggles, protective clothing and gloves as

necessary to protect skin.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place in tightly closed containers. Do

not store with strong oxidising agents.

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Uncontaminated material may be recovered for re-use.

Contaminated material must be destroyed.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, the substance has no hazardous effects.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposals at a landfill is not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance should be disposed of by incineration at a

licensed facility. An incinerator with after-burner and

scrubber for nitrogen oxides and hydrogen chloride gas

should be used.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not be disposed of in this manner. The

substance may be recovered by filtration. Recovered

material should be incinerated.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain except as a

minor component of a formulation.
