Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

EC50 > 1000 mg/L for activated sludge (OECD 209)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There is one microorganism study available for 2-amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (TRIS AMINO). This study was used as key study for the assessment. The study was conducted according to OECD guideline 209 and GLP (Schaefer and Twilley, 2012). Activated sludge of a predominantly domestic sewage was exposed to TRIS AMINO for 3 hours, at nominal test concentrations of 0, 0.1, 1, 10, 100 and 1000 mg/L. No respiration inhibition was observed in any treatment. The NOEC and EC50 values for the test substance are therefore greater than 1000 mg/L, the highest concentration tested.
